Running a Calm WordPress Update Window

Most WordPress update issues are not caused by the update itself. They come from unclear ownership, missing checks, or too many changes landing at once.
Before the window
- Confirm a recent backup exists
- Review plugins with low confidence or poor release notes
- Avoid mixing content edits with maintenance updates
During the window
- Update in small batches
- Check forms, navigation, search, and homepage sections after each batch
- Keep a short rollback note instead of relying on memory
After the window
Write down anything fragile you noticed. The next update cycle should start with those notes, not from scratch.
